Material List for August 28, 2021 Online Workshop by Sandra Iafrate © 2021 Sandra Iafrate - Gate Street Studio
A good assortment medium to large-sized synthetic brushes with long handle: bright (flat), filbert and round brushes (about ¼” to 1” for flat brushes) Larger inexpensive (flat) brush for applying gesso or quick washes of colour.
A medium-sized palette knife, for mixing and applying paint. Extra application tools: spatulas, sticks, plastic cards, sponge pieces, rags, etc.
* When choosing brushes, look for springy brushes that hold their shape and don’t have stray brush hairs or frayed brush hairs or uneven shape. If you are working in two mediums, then bring an extra set for that medium: ie, oil brushes and water medium brushes. My favourite acrylic brushes are:
One 16”x20” stretched gallery canvas or regular canvas. Please be sure your canvas is well primed with gesso primer prior to the workshop.
disposable pad of palette paper, large size, with lots of room for mixing, or large ‘stay-wet’ palette, ie. Masterson
Large Sketch pad, 2b pencil, white eraser and a kneaded eraser, any other drawing mediums you may have available such as pastel, crayons, coloured pencils, etc., lint-free cotton rag or blue automotive disposable lint-free towels, and apron.
Easel or Flat table surface
You may work on flat table for this workshop.
