I create art by using found materials as my canvas in order to tell stories about personal history and connection. I use vintage maps, aged books, and delicate lace to create textures for charcoal drawings that reveal the complexities of identity and time. My recent work includes portraiture, landscapes, and still-life compositions that  I hope inspire viewers to reflect on their own stories within the layers of the artwork. My goal is to connect with my audience by sharing glimpses of shared experiences and the profound resonance of our collective history. -- Sandra Iafrate
