Sandra Iafrate is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice examines memory, and material as vessels of lived experience. Working primarily in painting and mixed media, she integrates traditional techniques with layered surfaces, incorporating found and vintage materials. Her accumulative processes explore temporality and identity through portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and immersive installations she calls "real life still-lifes" of imagined histories and cultural narratives. Through layering and building these imagined memories, Iafrate brings complex and intrigue in the common person, place or thing.
