You will learn color mixing techniques, brush stroke techniques and how to compose your paintings in a new and creative manner. This session will include some traditional skills as well as some diverse new acrylic and mixed-media techniques. You will experience creating varied colour palettes and contemporary themes aimed to bring your work to a fresh new level.
12PM - 12:45PM
A gourmet box lunch and refreshments will be generously supplied by Studio 125 Gallery
1PM - 1:45PM
Demonstration: Sandra Iafrate will do a demonstration showing you the steps to creating a thoughtful contemporary representational composition. She will show how to approach creating your composition, followed by underpainting techniques, colour choices and adding different mediums to your work. Demonstration is mainly shown in acrylic, with some instruction on oil painting as well.
2:00PM - 5:00PM
Time to Create! You will compose and paint your painting based on a beautifully lit still life of fresh flowers and foliage provided in the studio. Participants are welcome to bring their own references if desired. Acrylic mediums and basic collage items and papers will also be available for more expressive experimentation. Sandra will spend equal time with each artist guiding them along the way. Your completed piece is the result of the day’s inspiration.
